Strategy & Skill
Poker Is Not Just Luck — It Is About Reading and Decision-Making
Many new players assume poker relies entirely on luck. In reality, experienced players use mathematical odds, table position and reading opponents' betting patterns to make better decisions over the long run.
At martm88, you can start at low-stakes tables to practise without pressure — then move up to higher tables once you are comfortable with the rhythm of the game.
- Understand table position — sitting in a late position gives you an information advantage during betting
- Manage your bankroll — do not put more than 5% of your playing funds on a single table
- Read opponents' betting patterns — bet sizing often reveals the strength of their hand
- Use pot odds — good call decisions are guided by the ratio of the pot size to the cost of calling
